Helmsman Trawlers was founded 2011 by Scott and Lisa Helker and David White (who no longer has an ownership interest). They acquired the tooling for the Camano Troll in 2013. The tooling was subsequently used as the basis for the Helmsman 31 Sedan, which is currently out of production but will soon be reintroduced in a new variation.
New model introductions since 2011 include the 43 Pilothouse (now the 43E) in 2015, 38 Sedan in 2023, 46 Pilothouse in 2024, and 43 Sedan in 2025.
